Correspondence Exchange Program

An exciting program that will allow children from Likii village, Spokane, and the rest of the United States learn
and share each others rich cultures.  We have already matched 43 children and the first correspondence from
Spokane was sent out on August 12, 2011.  Children between the ages of 7 years to 17 years are welcome to
join the program.  Parents are required to complete the application form before their children can be part of
the correspondence exchange program.  Forty-two children from St. John Vianney Catholic Church Vocational
School have been matched with children from Likii village.  Two other children enrolled during the Hispanic
Festival. We still need twenty more students to be matched with the remaining friends from Likii village.

   Reading Sessions

Another great way to enrich our children's knowledge of the different cultures in Africa and USA.  Children in
Spokane will enjoy learning about the African culture and especially Kenya which has over 45 tribes, from
storybooks written by African writers.  Children in Likii village will also enjoy the rich cutlure found in the USA
with emphasis on Native Americans and  Amish communities as well as the beautiful country lifestyles.  We
invite you to donate books on these rich American cultures which we can share with children from Likii village.
We are working together with the Spokane Valley Libraries to add our reading session for their Spring program.

    Learn Kiswahili Language

Kiswahili is quickly becoming an international language and children in Spokane will learn basic Kiswahili for
free.  For interested adults a small fee of $40.00 a month is applicable. Parents of children with roots from
Kenya are encouraged to join in the fun of learningKiswahili and enjoy the surprise on the faces of visiting
elderly relatives who might not be fluent in the English.language.  Classes will be held in one of the available
conference rooms located on Broadway Avenue, Spokane Valley.  To register your children or yourself, please
      complete the application form.
