Located on the slopes of Mt. Kenya, Nanyuki Town in Laikipia County is the closest description of a "Melting Pot" because of its diversity. Likii which was once a moonshine(chang'aa) brewing den, and with a population of approximately 10,000 is considered to be largest village in Nanyuki. At the heart of Likii Village is Likii Tender Hearts, a non-profit organization formed in 2008 with offices in Spokane Valley, WA and Nanyuki. Likii Tender Hearts offers free vocational training in dressmaking, knitting, crocheting, woodwork, and fine art, to the residents of Likii Village and its environs, a move that has been instrumental in bringing significant changes to their lifestyles.
Likii Tender Hearts mission is in "creating a spirit of giving" which is drawn from the teachings of Jesus in Mt. 14:19: "Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people." This mission has helped our beneficiaries identify various ways of creating a spirit of giving among themselves and with the rest of the community.
Our vision is to employ innovations that will help sustain and expand our mission of creating a spirit of giving.
