Volunteer

Our volunteers are the backbone of Likii Tender Hearts.  For the past 4 years, we have and continue to provide an outlet for the young and young at heart especially within the Spokane Valley with the opportunity to utilize their skills while volunteering in our programs.

Below are programs that are available for our volunteers.  In order to be considered for any volunteer program, everyone is required to complete an application form and for applicants below ages 10-17 years submit a parental permission form together with the application form. Parents or guardians, complete the application form for children below 15 years.

Clerical
If you have good typing skills, this is an opportunity to utilize them.  Volunteers will be assisting in creating invitation, thank you cards, brochure, and marketing materials for our ongoing programs. 

We receive a variety of Kenyan art and would welcome your assistance in preparing them for our online shop as well as face2face shop.  This entails taking photographs of each item or same family of items and pricing them. 

Events
This is an opportunity to show your sales skills although our volunteers are not required to have any prior sales background.  We participate in several events throughout the year, e.g. World Trade Fair, ValleyFest, events sponsored by Catholic Charities of Spokane, Church Craft and Bake fairs, etc. where one gets to interact with a diversity community.

Fundraising
Likii Tender Hearts holds a fundraising dinner a year at our Parish, St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Spokane Valley, WA. where we also display and sell Kenyan art.  Our volunteers will be assisting in the set-up of tables, art display, and food serving and clean-up.

Reading Sessions
Our latest program involves donating books written by African writers to different learning centers within the Spokane County.  It is our intention to hold weekly reading sessions in these centers for young readers.  To be accepted for this volunteer program Likii Tender Hearts will make a background check for each application.
